Sledding at Mt. Baker

For my dad's 60th birthday, we went to Mt. Baker to go sledding. It had been in the 60's by us and VERY springtime. All the cherry blossom trees, as of right now, are D. O. N. E. Can you believe it?? As we hardly had any snow this winter, we needed some play time in it! This is just two hours from us, and IF you could stay dry, you wouldn't even need a coat; it was that warm. We had a lot of fun! It was a good play time with my extended family!! (BTW, that mountain is not Mt. Baker, but we were in the Mt. Baker ski area.)

Felicity loves to dress in her ballerina outfits. We had fun creating this crown together. She also loves to dance these days. It's always the same moves regardless if it's Quiet Riot or Christian praise music! : )

Gavin was close to buying one of the bigger Lego sets, and he remembered that I offered to pay him for some work (money comes in faster that way, then just waiting for the allowance to come in). So, we paid him to clean all the scrap mess from our deck project. As you can see, he organized all the scrap pieces as well. I paid him a bonus for his diligence! He was very proud! I especially liked the "Jenga" pile he created!

Legos

The boys are very proud of their Lego creations that sometimes they have us take pictures of them. Gavin put this one together.

Narration

One of our tools in homeschooling is narration. They retell the story or what they've learned in their own words. Instead of testing what they don't know, you learn all that they do know! One of the ways that we get in the habit of it, is by picture narration. The boys love to draw, and this is a good tool to tell about the story. Gavin was extremely proud of his drawing this time. He used the cover of the book and drew it freehand! The second picture is Ephraim's choice about the same story.

Catching Up!

Just catching you up from Christmas time. The children really enjoyed all the gifts from far off family (and close, too)!

The boys are starting to play chess, though, now that Gavin is starting to beat Ephraim, he's not as interested. I think I boosted his confidence the other day as he annihilated me! That would be Momma destroyed, not Dad... : )
